Privacy Policy

This statement describes how personal data is processed on this website. It follows the revised Swiss Data Protection Act (FADP); for visitors from the EU/EEA the GDPR applies in addition.

1. Controller

Eight Horizon Ventures, 8047 Zurich, Switzerland, represented by Tim Gieske. Full address on request. Email: info@eight-horizon.com No EU representative under Art. 27 GDPR has been appointed. Processing is limited to individual enquiries sent through the form on this website.

2. What data is collected

Through the contact form: Name — required Email address — required Company — optional Subject — required Message — required Language version, timestamp and your consent — so it stays traceable when and to what you consented To prevent abuse, your IP address is counted briefly in memory on submission and is not stored. When the website is opened, the hosting provider additionally records technical access data in server logs (IP address, time, file requested, browser type). This processing is necessary for operation and security. Vercel retains these logs only briefly; the exact duration depends on the plan in use.

3. Purpose of processing

Your details are used exclusively to answer your enquiry. There is no profiling and no automated decision-making, and no newsletter is sent.

4. Legal basis

The basis is your consent, which you actively give when submitting the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; within the scope of the FADP, consent under Art. 6 FADP). You may withdraw that consent at any time — an email to the address above is enough. Withdrawal applies going forward and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out until then.

5. Recipients and processors

Your details are not sold and not passed to third parties for advertising. Only the following have access: Hosting provider — Vercel Inc., USA. Operates the website and runs the form processing. Email provider — Hostinger. Sends and stores your message in the info@eight-horizon.com mailbox; server locations follow their infrastructure. No separate delivery service is involved: the message is sent straight through the mail server of that mailbox. Vercel also processes data in the USA, on the basis of the Standard Contractual Clauses that form part of its data processing agreement.

6. Retention

Your details are kept until the purpose is fulfilled or you withdraw consent — at most 24 months after the last contact. They are deleted afterwards. Following a withdrawal the data is deleted without delay, unless a statutory retention obligation prevents it.

7. Your rights

Information — what data about you is processed Correction — have inaccurate details corrected Deletion — have your data deleted Restriction and objection — limit the processing Data portability — receive your data in a common format Withdrawal of consent — at any time, with effect going forward An informal email is enough. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority — in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, in the EU/EEA the authority responsible for you.

8. Cookies, tracking, analytics

This website uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Only with your consent. Nothing is loaded and no cookie is set until you agree in the banner. If you decline, no connection to Google is made at all. You can withdraw or grant consent at any time under “Analytics settings” in the footer; withdrawing deletes the cookies already set and takes effect immediately. What is processed: pages viewed, date and time, approximate location derived from your IP address (country and region, not a precise location), referring website, device type, browser and operating system, and screen size. Simple interactions are recorded as well: how far you scroll on a page, clicks on links to other websites, file downloads, and whether a form was started and submitted. What you type is explicitly not included — the content of your message reaches the mailbox only, never Google. IP addresses are shortened by Google Analytics 4 before evaluation and are not stored. No advertising features, no cross-site tracking and no demographic reporting are enabled. Cookies used: _ga and _ga_<container>, both set on this domain with a lifetime of up to 24 months. They contain a randomly generated number that recognises a returning browser. They are not read by anyone else and are deleted when you withdraw consent. Purpose: understanding which content is read and how the site is found, in order to improve it. There is no profiling, no automated decision-making and no merging with the data from your contact enquiry. Legal basis: your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and, for the storage on your device, § 25(1) TDDDG; under the Swiss FADP, consent under Art. 6 FADP. Withdrawal applies to the future and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand. Transfer to third countries: Google may also process data in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision; in addition, Google’s standard contractual clauses apply. Despite this, US authority access cannot be entirely ruled out — you should factor this in when deciding. Retention: Google deletes user and event-level data after 14 months at the latest. Aggregated reports are retained beyond that. A data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with Google. Google’s own privacy information is available at policies.google.com/privacy. Independently of the banner, you can install Google’s browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics from tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Beyond this, the site embeds no tracking services, advertising networks or social media plugins. Your language is not stored; it is derived from your browser settings on every visit. The Inter and Inter Tight typefaces are bundled when the site is built and served from its own server — no connection to Google Fonts is made. Your decision about analytics is stored locally in your browser so that it can be honoured. This storage is technically necessary and requires no consent of its own.
